Why AI for Creators Should Assist You, Not Replace You — Lessons from Building My Brand

I’ve spent the last few months using AI tools—not just to experiment, but to build my brand, repurpose content, and plan ahead.

Between podcasting, content creation, and working with Dennis Yu and the BlitzMetrics team, I’ve learned something simple:

AI isn’t a creator. It’s an assistant.

Used the right way, it saves time, helps organize ideas, and keeps your content flowing.

Whether you’re a creator, business owner, or trying to get your name out there—here’s exactly how I use AI and how you can too.

1. AI Is Not You. It’s Your Assistant.

Don’t expect AI to replace your voice or your story. It can’t.

But it can help you:

  • Plan your content
  • Brainstorm video and podcast ideas
  • Turn messy thoughts into outlines
  • (My favorite) Repurpose what you’ve already made

The video this article came from? AI helped spark the idea. But the insights are all mine.

When I asked ChatGPT, “Help me brainstorm 1–3 minute videos for my media channel,” it gave me solid suggestions—because it knew I’m speaking at the JVA Align Summit with Dennis soon.

2. Treat AI Like a Teammate

ChatGPT knows that I’m a dunker, a podcaster, and I work with creators on personal branding.

Because of that, it helps me:

  • Draft outlines for short-form videos and blogs
  • Clean up voice notes into bullet points
  • Build topic ideas based on my recent content

It remembers what I’m about and helps organize the chaos. When AI knows your tone, your goals, and your content history, it becomes part of your workflow.

3. Repurpose, Don’t Fake

This is where most people go wrong.

Don’t use AI to generate content from scratch. That’s lazy and obvious. And it doesn’t build trust.

Instead, start with something real—like a video, podcast, or blog—and use AI to reshape it.

Example: I was flown out to Maryland for a Dunk Contest. I went out and did my three dunks, and I won.

Typing everything that went down into a post would take a while. But I could just talk about it on video or a podcast, then use ChatGPT to repurpose it into an article.

It’s still my experience. AI just helps package it.

4. Put Your Content Somewhere Google Can Find It

If your content lives only in TikTok captions or Instagram Reels, AI can’t help you much—because it can’t see it.

But if you post that content on a personal brand website, it becomes searchable. It becomes part of your online identity.

That’s when AI becomes really useful. Once your stories live on your website, you can use AI to:

  • Generate follow-up articles
  • Break content into short videos
  • Plan podcast topics based on themes

Think of your site as your home base. Everything starts there.

Final Take

AI isn’t here to replace you. It’s here to help you move faster—if you use it right.

Here’s how I make it work:

  • Use it to brainstorm
  • Use it to organize
  • Use it to repurpose real content

Your story is what makes your content valuable. AI just helps you share it further.

AI for creators works best when you treat it as a thought partner rather than a ghost writer. In my experience building Local Service Spotlight and training people through the AI apprenticeship at High Rise Academy, the creators who get the best results are the ones who bring their own perspective and let AI handle the repetitive tasks like transcription, formatting, and first-draft outlines.

If you are a creator looking to scale your output without sacrificing authenticity, start with one workflow at a time. Use AI to repurpose a podcast episode into blog posts. Use it to draft social captions from your video transcripts. Use it to research topics before you sit down to record. AI for creators is not about shortcuts—it is about building systems that let your ideas reach more people without burning yourself out in the process. That shift in mindset has made all the difference in how I approach my content and my business.
