Podcast repurposing is the single most important skill I’ve developed as a content creator. If you’re creating content and not repurposing it, you’re wasting time. As the host of the Dunk Talk Podcast, I’ve built a system to squeeze the most out of every single episode.
Here’s exactly what I do, step by step.

1. Record the Podcast
This part’s obvious. Sit down, hit record, and capture a valuable conversation. It all starts here.
Whether it’s a guest episode or a solo deep dive, this becomes the seed for everything else.
2. Enhance Audio with Descript
I use Descript to clean things up quickly:
- Remove filler words
- Enhance audio quality
- Export transcript
The new “Overlord” feature lets me automate a lot of this just by typing a prompt.
If you don’t have Descript, YouTube’s auto-transcription works too (just less accurate).
3. Upload to Platforms
Video Version:
- Upload to YouTube (set to private first for edits)
- Create a compelling title (e.g. Dunker With 49″ Vertical Jumps 7 Days a Week – Dillan McCarthy, Ep. 30)
- Add SEO-optimized description using ChatGPT (with the transcript as context)
- Create a thumbnail
Audio Version:
- Upload to Spotify and Apple Podcasts (I use RSS sync for Apple Podcasts)
- Reuse the same title and description
4. Social Media Distribution
- Post thumbnail on @dunktalks
- Share background info in the caption
- Post to both brand and personal IG stories
- Add it to Story Highlights for easy access
- Link your IG to a Facebook Page for cross-posting
- Post to personal Facebook if the episode is strong
X/Twitter
- Use ChatGPT to shorten already-written captions to fit character limits
- Post on podcast account and retweet from personal
- Post to Dunk Talk Podcast company page
- Share to personal profile when relevant to your work
YouTube Community Post
- Schedule a follow-up post a few days after upload
- Re-promote strong episodes from your personal account too
5. Write the Blog Post
This part takes the longest. But it’s worth it.
Here’s how I do it:
- Use ChatGPT to turn the transcript into a post
- Use Custom GPTs and other tools to grade and refine the post
- Add relevant links / media
- Embed the YouTube video
- Share the blog post across social platforms
I haven’t done this for every episode yet, but I’m working toward it.
6. Create Short-Form Clips
I used to do this manually but plan to switch to tools like Opus Clip.
Goal:
- Cut podcast into reels, YouTube Shorts, TikToks
- Automate as much as possible
- Maximize distribution without extra effort
What Are You Doing With Your Content?
There’s no shortage of ways to multiply your content. But you have to actually do it.
- What are you already repurposing?
- What’s missing from your system?
- Where are you stuck?
Feel free to reach out to me. I want to help creators like you build consistent, scalable systems.
Podcast repurposing has completely changed how I think about content creation. Instead of treating each episode as a one-time event, I now see every recording session as the raw material for an entire week of content across multiple platforms. This approach is the backbone of what we teach in the AI apprenticeship at High Rise Academy, where we train young adults and virtual assistants to run this exact system for Local Service Spotlight clients.
The key insight behind effective podcast repurposing is that different audiences consume content in different formats. Some people prefer watching full video episodes on YouTube. Others want short clips on Instagram or TikTok. Some discover your work through blog posts that rank on Google, while others find you through podcast directories like Spotify and Apple Podcasts. By repurposing systematically, you meet people where they already are instead of hoping they come to you. That strategy has been fundamental to growing both my personal brand and the businesses I help build.
